GitHub Cost Overview
This dashboard provides a comprehensive view of your GitHub costs, helping you analyze spend patterns, identify the products, SKUs, and organizations driving cost, and track usage over time. Use this page to monitor key cost drivers across GitHub Enterprise Cloud, Copilot, and Actions, optimize seat and usage spend, and improve forecasting accuracy.
Why this matters: GitHub costs are largely seat-based (Enterprise Cloud, Copilot) with a smaller usage-based component (Actions minutes and storage, Copilot AI credits). Seat counts tend to creep up as teams grow and Copilot licenses are handed out, and usage-based items can spike with a busy CI pipeline. Breaking spend down by product, SKU, and organization is what surfaces that growth before it becomes a large line item nobody expected.

FAQs
What's the difference between ghec, copilot, and actions?
ghec is the Enterprise Cloud seat charge for your GitHub users. copilot covers Copilot licenses (such as Copilot Business) and Copilot AI credits. actions covers usage-based CI/CD charges such as Linux compute minutes and storage, which can show as $0.00 when usage stays within your included allowance.
Why do Top Products and Top Organizations not match Total Costs exactly?
They can be viewing different periods or filters; the widget headers show the month they cover (for example Sep-26), while Total Costs lists several months. Always check that Period and any applied Filter By selections match before comparing numbers across widgets.
Why does the current month show a second, higher number?
The current month is still in progress. The first value is actual spend to date and the second is the forecast for the full month.
