Why this matters: AI assistants like Claude and GitHub Copilot are usually licensed per seat, but the actual value — and cost — comes from how much they're used, and by whom. This section tracks that usage and cost so adoption and spend stay visible together, rather than showing up only as a flat per-seat line item.

This shows up differently depending on your role:

• FinOps managers track per-seat AI Assist spend against actual usage, to catch seats that are barely touched or quietly running into overage.

• Engineering/IT leads use Top Users and Top Products to see which teams have adopted which assistants, and where more seats (or fewer) might be needed.

• Finance leaders use the Spend Utilization view to understand how much of what's already been paid for (seats) is actually being consumed, before approving more.
