Datadog Cost Overview
This dashboard provides a comprehensive view of your Datadog costs, helping you analyze spend patterns, identify top-costing organizations, products, and pricing categories, and track usage over time. Use this page to monitor key cost drivers, optimize monitoring and observability spend, and improve forecasting accuracy.
Why this matters: Datadog costs can grow quietly as more services get instrumented — a new host here, a new synthetic test there — without any single change looking significant on its own. Breaking spend down by organization, product, and pricing category (on-demand vs. committed) is what surfaces that gradual growth before it becomes a large line item nobody expected.

FAQs
What's the difference between "on_demand" and "committed" spend?
On-demand is consumption-based pricing with no upfront commitment. Committed is spend covered by a commitment you've already purchased with Datadog. Splitting the two shows how much of your bill is locked in versus variable.
Why don't the Top Organizations and Top Products totals match Total Costs exactly?
They can be viewing different periods or filters — always check that Period and any applied Filter By selections match before comparing numbers across widgets.
